As part of "Parental Love Week," a heartfelt gathering took place at Brest State Technical University (BrSTU). On October 21 - Father’s Day - the university hosted an open dialogue, held "without censorship or moralizing." Students had the chance to meet a special guest: Father Leonid Simonchik, a cleric from the Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Brest.
Instead of a dull lecture, the students experienced a lively, interactive discussion. The moderators brought up some of the most pressing and thought-provoking questions currently on the minds of young people.
What was discussed with Father Leonid?
Love and finding "the one": how to take off the "rose-colored glasses," what criteria to use when choosing a life partner, and whether it’s a good idea to "test" one’s feelings by living together before marriage.
Starting a family during one’s student years: how to build a solid foundation for marriage without a stable income, and whether jealousy is actually a sign of love.
Parents and the generation gap: how to handle overprotective parents at age 20, how to maintain peace at home, and what the primary role of a father truly is.
The event concluded with an engaging "lightning round," during which Father Leonid shared his own personal experiences as a father and offered a key piece of advice to students just beginning to build their independent lives. The conversation was incredibly warm and profound.
