Grand opening of the memorial plaque of the Digital Star project

On September 1, between the ramparts of the former Fort No. 3 in Brest, on the site where about 1,000 civilians brought from the Brest prison were shot in 1942-1943, a significant event took place - a memorial plaque with a QR code of the International Historical and Patriotic Project "Digital Star" was unveiled.

The project, implemented by the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and supported by government agencies, archival services, universities and volunteers, aims to preserve historical memory and its digitalization. Thanks to the placement of special QR-coded signs, everyone will be able to get acquainted with archival materials, photo chronicles and documentary evidence related to important pages of the past of our Motherland.

The opening of the memorial plaque was solemn and symbolic, emphasizing the importance of preserving the historical heritage and passing on traditions to younger generations. The rally participants honored the memory with a minute of silence as a sign of deep respect and gratitude to the heroes whose destinies are connected with the history of the university and the region.

Among the honored guests of the event were Deputy Head of the Administration of the Moscow District of Brest Alla Petrovna Ulyanitskaya, Deputy Prosecutor of Brest Eduard Anatolyevich Pashkevich, Rector of Brest State Technical University Sergey Antonovich Kasperovich, Director of JSC "Tsvetotron" Vasily Valentinovich Kolodich, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work of BrSTU Natalya Petrovna Yalovaya, First Secretary of the Brest City Committee of BRSM Vyacheslav Yuryevich Stelmachonok.

Alla Petrovna Ulyanitskaya emphasized the special significance of Brest as a symbol of the courage and fortitude of the people. Having emphasized the scale of the losses suffered by Belarus during the Great Patriotic War, the deputy head of the Moscow district administration reminded of the importance of caring for the memory of the heroes and passing this information on to future generations.

“Our memory is the basis of our strength, our movement forward. We understand that only the memory of those who stood firm, won and passed on their strength to us makes us strong. We feel this strength, understanding that there were heroes, and there were ordinary people who wanted to live and raise children... Therefore, let us remember and move forward on our own!” urged Sergei Antonovich.

The ceremonial rally ended with the laying of flowers at the installed plaque.
