A student delegation from Brest State Technical University, comprised of 10 active representatives from various university faculties, is participating in a program of popular science visits organized specifically for students from higher education institutions in Russia and Belarus.
Southern Federal University (SFedU) is the largest scientific and educational center in southern Russia, offering world-class educational programs in a wide range of fields: information technology, engineering, education, philology, architecture, law, economics, biology, tourism, and many other specialties. Research is conducted in unique laboratories and centers under the guidance of experienced faculty.
Program participants were introduced to an extensive exhibition at the university museum, dedicated to its rich history, beginning with the evacuation of the Imperial University of Warsaw in 1915. This was followed by a master class on the peculiarities of the Don dialect and a tour of Rostov-on-Don's historical sites, including Bolshaya Sadovaya Street, the famous houses of architect Alexander Pomerantsev, and the unique Don Cossack Guard Museum.
Particular attention was paid to the development of information technology. Students were given a tour of SFedU's advanced laboratories and programming centers, demonstrating modern equipment and facilities for scientific research and startups. During the visit, the delegates learned about the training of future IT specialists and saw the innovative spaces of Distillery, Oggetto, Inostudio, ITP, IBS Dunice, and Heapp Games.
The program also included a trip to Taganrog, known as the birthplace of Anton Chekhov. Participants were able to stroll through Chekhov's sites, visit the writer's memorial apartment, and admire the views of Taganrog Bay.
The delegation also visited the SFedU Mineralogical Museum, the largest geological museum in southern Russia, enjoyed a relaxing break on the famous Don River embankment, and gained an insight into the region's hospitality culture at the Residence Hotel, named the best breakfast and mini-hotel by the Russian Hospitality Awards.
This experience allowed BrSTU students to gain a deeper understanding of the scientific potential of Russian higher education, assess the level of equipment and organization of the educational process at SFedU, and strengthen intercultural ties!
