Road to the Stars

Brest State Technical University hosted a dialogue platform, "Road to the Stars," to mark Cosmonautics Day. On this day, university students and faculty had the unique opportunity to meet with veterans of the Strategic Missile Forces and hear stories about the development of Russian cosmonautics.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Leonid Ivanovich Kustov, retired Colonel Viktor Arkadyevich Shubin, retired Lieutenant Colonel Valery Alekseevich Samosevich, and retired Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Nikolaevich Shulga, head of the "Valor. Honor. Fatherland" information and propaganda group of the Brest City Veterans Council, addressed the audience.

The guests shared memories of their service at the legendary Baikonur Cosmodrome and spoke about their encounters with cosmonauts, who became symbols of the era of space exploration. Particular attention was paid to the history of the Soviet space industry, key stages in the development of rocket science, and the launches of the first spacecraft.

They also delved into the performance characteristics of some of the spacecraft they personally launched. The students listened with interest to stories about the challenges and joys of service, the importance of teamwork, and the responsibility of each specialist in achieving shared goals.

The meeting took the form of a lively dialogue: the students asked questions about the daily life of rocket scientists, the current achievements of the space industry, and its development prospects.

We thank the veterans for the engaging and informative discussion, as well as all participants for their interest and enthusiasm. May "Road to the Stars" inspire new generations of students to bold dreams and great achievements!
